Why all this NJ Information?

Why all this NJ information? You may not be aware of this, but I have a New Jersey book! It covers things to do, areas in New Jersey and more. I decided rather than continue to sell it, I’d share the information in one place. It makes more sense to have free access to it— all in one place. This way you can find the information that you need, when you need it with a simple search.

:) There you have it…look for more NJ information coming soon! As for today, I’m on my way out to lunch…have a great day.

Jersey Did What?

Okay– deep breath. My husband is doing my taxes and says he needs to know what I’ve bought online over the last year through say…Amazon or something. What? In the entire year? I’m supposed to remember that? Sure, sure, I guess I can look it up, but why on earth would you need something like that?

Taxes.

I bought it online– there weren’t any for here. Exactly he says…but it’s not my fault I can get a better deal online. Have to pay taxes on that stuff….what? Nobody told me, how was I supposed to know? I look at him like he’s crazy– WHAT are you talking about?

Know how they did the back taxes on people who bought cigarettes online and stuff? Yeah? Well, he says…that goes for everything- they’re currently trying to get Amazon to release their records, and Amazon is fighting it…huh?

Where have I been living– in a cave?

NJ is going to tax me for something I bought online? I got flipping charged last night for digital downloads! I kid you not, I yelled into the other room….THOSE BASTARDS! I just got charged for downloading digital audiobooks. It’s not even a tangible good that I can hold in my hands…it’s digital, over the airwaves baby, not a book with pages that they have to ship to me….and I was charged tax on them all!

SEE!!! he says….no fair.

Once a year I buy a bunch of audiobooks right before the summer, and they last me for a few months….and I was charged not only for the books, but tax on audio books. To me that just seems weird. Anyway, those NJ bastards took that money, so how do I know which things I’ve bought online have been taxed by NJ and which haven’t?

Geeeeeeeezzz, what a pain in the ass.

New Jersey Weather? Wet

The New Jersey weather today is wet, wet, wet. I don’t know about every inch of New Jersey, but my Hunterdon County is soaking in rain. We just had a massive branch fall off of neighbors tree into our backyard today from the winds and rain. Whoosh, down it came, and it was easily 10 feet long and 6 feet wide!

It’s a soaker, and I’m hoping the New Jersey weather clears up soon!

At least tomorrow we’ll see sunny skies and 64 degrees again. I’m missing the 70’s, but the 60’s are still okay by me.
How are you going to spend your Sunday tomorrow? It’s not too late to visit the pumpkin farms!

If you’re free on Monday, Wildwood is having a fishing tournament on the 27th. If you want to register, be at the Firehouse at 2nd and New Jersey Avenue in North Wildwood between 6am-7:30am. Fishing will start at 7:30 and go until 2:30. There is an entrance fee. More details? 609-522-1526

New Jersey History

If New Jersey history is a topic that interests you, then you’ll want to head to VisitNJ.org and check out their history and heritage section. One particular place I wanted to tell you about was the “Aviation Hall of Fame & Museum of New Jersey”. It’s located in Teterboro and represents 209 years or aviation history! Jet engines, helicopters, planes and more are offered up for you to enjoy. You can even see an astronaut uniform and satellite on display.

Quick heads up: they are closed on Mondays, and open from 10am-4pm Tuesday through Sunday.

What are you doing this weekend? If you’d like more information on the Aviation Hall of Fame & Museum of New Jersey, you can check them out at NJAHOF.org

November 1st, you have the chance to sit in a real plane or helicopter cockpit. You won’t want to miss this. Full details can be found on their calendar page at the website.

Skin Care in New Jersey

Skin care in New Jersey is alive and well. Whether you’re looking for a great facial at a day spa, or something a little more defined. I recently started laser treatments for my Rosacea. With so many places to choose from, the question is how do you get the BEST skin care.

New Jersey gives a license out for skin care. So if you’re headed to a spa for a chemical peel or rejuvenating facial, ask if the esthetician has a license, and ask to see it. Also, there are different levels of chemical peels, so you’ll get a different level of peel from a spa than you will at a dermatologist. A spa will offer a superficial peel, where a doctor can give you a deeper peel. On the other hand, you may just need a basic superficial peel for a renewed appearance. Ask questions, so you know what the expected outcome is.

Also, if you’re going to get more intense or deeper skin care treatments in New Jersey, you’ll want to make sure you’re working with a board certified doctor. A dermatologist is a good place to start, or a doctor who has been trained in using the right equipment.

Before jumping into anything, take the time to ask questions. How long have they been doing this procedure? What should you expect after the procedure, and are there any things you should be doing or applying when you leave, on a home regimen?

New Jersey Information?

Want some New Jersey information that you DIDN’T know?

You may all know that the New Jersey flag is buff and blue, but did you know we have a state sea shell? We also have a state dinosaur? Is this stuff really necessary? I got a laugh out of some of it, so I thought I’d share it here.

New Jersey State Dinosaur: The Hadrosaurus (due to it being found in Jersey, and it was the first complete dinosaur skeleton)…okay, look at the name…I’ll wait. Where do you think it was found? Haddonfield!

We need a Jersey state coaster like “Nitro”, or a Jersey bridge like the “Trenton Makes” bridge.

Okay, so what about the New Jersey shell? There’s a shell called a knobbed whelk, and for some reason, we found it important to have a state shell, but not until 1995. However did we survive without a state shell before that? Government with too much time on their hands, eh?

Here are a few more:
New Jersey bird- Goldfinch
New Jersey tree- Red Oak (I personally prefer Maple trees)
New Jersey flower- violet (I’m a fan of daffodils and tiger lily’s)
New Jersey insect- SERIOUSLY, we need a state insect? If you must know it’s a honeybee
New Jersey state fish- brook trout, but again not until the 90’s, so what happened before the 90’s?
New Jersey state animal- the horse
New Jersey fruit- blueberries…pass through Hammonton and you’ll see were the blueberry capital of the world

There you have it, with this vital information, you’ll finally be able to sleep like a baby tonight!
