Want some New Jersey information that you DIDN’T know?
You may all know that the New Jersey flag is buff and blue, but did you know we have a state sea shell? We also have a state dinosaur? Is this stuff really necessary? I got a laugh out of some of it, so I thought I’d share it here.
New Jersey State Dinosaur: The Hadrosaurus (due to it being found in Jersey, and it was the first complete dinosaur skeleton)…okay, look at the name…I’ll wait. Where do you think it was found? Haddonfield!
We need a Jersey state coaster like “Nitro”, or a Jersey bridge like the “Trenton Makes” bridge.
Okay, so what about the New Jersey shell? There’s a shell called a knobbed whelk, and for some reason, we found it important to have a state shell, but not until 1995. However did we survive without a state shell before that? Government with too much time on their hands, eh?
Here are a few more:
New Jersey bird- Goldfinch
New Jersey tree- Red Oak (I personally prefer Maple trees)
New Jersey flower- violet (I’m a fan of daffodils and tiger lily’s)
New Jersey insect- SERIOUSLY, we need a state insect? If you must know it’s a honeybee
New Jersey state fish- brook trout, but again not until the 90’s, so what happened before the 90’s?
New Jersey state animal- the horse
New Jersey fruit- blueberries…pass through Hammonton and you’ll see were the blueberry capital of the world
There you have it, with this vital information, you’ll finally be able to sleep like a baby tonight!
